As the seasons begin to shift and the days grow longer, we’re embracing the sunshine and welcoming the opportunity to spend more time outdoors with our little learners. The benefits of outdoor play for children are truly endless, and we are proud to make outdoor activities a key part of our daily nursery routine.
Outdoor play is not just fun—it’s a crucial part of early development. According to the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum, outdoor learning supports physical development, health and well-being, social skills, and even literacy and numeracy through real-world exploration. It encourages children to become confident, active, and curious learners.

Our Beautiful Outdoor Spaces
We are incredibly proud of our nursery’s beautiful outdoor environments. Each of our locations has thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that offer a safe and stimulating place for children to explore, play, and learn. Whether it’s running around on the grass, digging in the sandpit, or using ride-on toys, these areas give children the space to move freely and express themselves.
Every day, regardless of the weather, our children spend time outside. But now, with the arrival of sunnier days, we’re excited to enjoy even more time in the fresh air. The warmer weather means extended play sessions, and we’re introducing a wider range of activities that take full advantage of this change.

Getting Hands-On with Nature
One of the highlights of the spring and summer seasons is gardening! Children love getting involved with planting flowers and vegetables, learning how to care for living things, and watching their hard work bloom over time. This hands-on experience teaches responsibility, patience, and a love for nature—all part of the many benefits of outdoor play for children.
Gardening activities also spark conversations about the environment, seasons, and healthy eating. It’s always a joy to see the excitement on children’s faces when they spot a sprouting seed or pick a ripe tomato they’ve helped grow!
Outdoor Fitness and Active Play
To promote physical well-being, many of our nursery locations have weekly outdoor fitness sessions. These fun, energetic classes are tailored for young children and include activities like mini obstacle courses, stretching, dance, and playful exercises.
Not only do these sessions improve gross motor skills and coordination, but they also build confidence and a positive attitude toward physical activity. Outdoor fitness is another wonderful way we integrate the benefits of outdoor play for children into our weekly schedule.

Learning Through Play, Rain or Shine
While the sunny weather is a bonus, our commitment to outdoor play is year-round. Outdoor learning experiences align with the EYFS goals by supporting development in all key areas through exploration, movement, and interaction with the natural world.
We’re so excited for the warmer months ahead and can’t wait to share more outdoor adventures with our nursery children. With so much to see, do, and learn outside, the garden truly becomes a classroom without walls. If you’d like to learn more about our outdoor activities or see our spaces in action, feel free to get in touch or book a visit!
